Surrounded by the fort walls of Nahargarh Fort on one side and the city of Jaipur on the other, lies the historical site of Gatore Ki Chhatriyan. The landmark is the royal crematorium ground for the members of the Kachwahas - a Rajput dynasty. The complex consists of a series of intricately carved umbrella-shaped marble domes or pavilions that adorn the memorials of the rulers or the members of the royal family. Constructed in the traditional Rajput architectural style, the chhatris feature elaborate designs including delicately carved pillars, domes, and intricate motifs. One of the most prominent structures within the complex is the chhatri (memorial) dedicated to Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the founder of Jaipur. This cenotaph stands out particularly due to its grandeur and architectural splendor. Gatore Ki Chhatriyan is not only a place of historical significance but also serves as a serene retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It allows visitors to immerse themselves in the past and marvel at the architectural wonders of Rajasthan.
