Located at the top of the Cheel ka Teela (Hill of Eagles) in the Aravalli range, close to the Amer Fort - the Jaigarh Fort is a formidable fortress built by Sawai Jai Singh in the year 1726. Named after the ruler who got it constructed, Jaigarh Fort served as a military stronghold renowned for its impressive defensive structures, expansive complexes, and engineering marvels. It was never conquered in history and, therefore, rightfully called the “Fort of Victory”. The fort’s architecture reflects a blend of Mughal and Rajput styles characterized by massive walls, watchtowers, bastions, and gateways. The prime attraction inside the fort complex is the massive Jaivana cannon which is the world’s largest cannon on wheels! Its imposing architecture also includes structures such as the Vilas Mandir, Lalit Mandir, Aram Mandir, Laxmi Vilas Palace, and the two temples of Kal Bhairav and Ram Harihar. Besides enjoying the scenic views of the Pink City, visitors can also explore the museum and the armory within the complex to learn more about the fort’s military strength and cultural history.
